Q: What is DECO Picnics?
A: Deco Picnics is a luxury picnic styling company in Northern Virginia and the Greater Washington DC area. We host indoor and outdoor pop-up events for 2-50+ guests no matter the venue. Our picnic and teepee party events are designed with style, elegance, and charm.
Q: Where can I have my event?
A: Whether it's a teepee party or picnic, we can host events at a private home, community gazebo, or backyard. We've also partnered with many local wineries, however, the Northern Virginia area is rich with beautiful gardens, gorgeous parks, and intimate outdoor spaces.
Q: What's included with our picnic?
A: Our Luxury Picnic Table Delivery is currently suitable for 2-50 people. We may accommodate more people with custom orders. Our picnics include Candles, rugs/blankets, pillow cushions, low picnic table, faux/dried flowers, flatware and tableware, table runner, all setup, breakdown and pack up. For more customization such as backdrops, balloon designs etc. please inquire before booking.
Q: How does it work?
A: Once your picnic is booked, on the day of your experience, we arrive at the location prior to your arrival to set up and ensure everything is ready to go for your picnic. We will be at the site to greet you and make sure nobody else decides to have your picnic! We will leave after you are settled and return once your picnic reservation ends. Once we return to pack up, you are free to leave and enjoy the rest of your day or evening. We return after 90-minutes for a luxury picnic experience. For a teepee slumber party, we return the following day and after your event if our teepees have been rented for a party. All our packages are designed to be hassle-free.
Q: Are your teepees just for kids?
A: Not at all. We have experiences for adults, families, and kids of all ages. We’ve helped host everything from Mommy & Me SleepOvers to Ladies Night Dinner Parties, to Bridal Showers. Our experiences are tailored to your needs and we ensure everything is age-appropriate.
Q: What happens if rains?
A: In the event of wet weather or a day before your event, you have the option to move your picnic to indoor locations such as your home or reschedule it to another date. WE WILL NOT PLACE OUR PRODUCTS ON WET GRASS. Notice to reschedule must be provided no less than 72 hours in advance and the chosen date is subject to availability. Refunds will not be offered in the event of wet weather as other bookings will have been turned away to service your picnic event.
We closely monitor the weather leading up to your event and will update you if there is anything on the horizon that may impact your event. For the safety of all our guests, our picnic experiences, Outdoor Movie and Outdoor Dining experiences will not go ahead in extreme weather (rain/wind). We will do everything we can to accommodate alternative dates or switch to our SleepOver experience depending on availability. We do this in complete consultation with you and with the safety and enjoyment of you, your family, and your guests in mind.
Q: Can I choose a venue outside of your recommended locations?
A: Absolutely. We can style your indoor or outdoor event anywhere in the DMV area. If you don’t see your location of choice listed, do let us know and we will try our best to accommodate your request.
All picnic setup locations must be within 200 yards of a parking lot or vehicle access. If the location is 15 miles or more outside of the 22191 area code (Deco Picnics HQ), a $1/mile travel fee, based on roundtrip mileage will be added to your package.
Q: Are kids allowed at a picnic styled by Deco Picnics?
A: Yes, absolutely! We are a family-friendly, family-owned and operated business. All children are welcome.
Q: Are dogs and pets allowed at a picnic styled by Deco Picnics?
A: Yes, absolutely, venue permitting - however, please note that you are responsible for any damages that may occur (biting of furniture, accidents or soiling of fabrics)
Q: Where do you set up?
A: We can set up anywhere you desire! inside your house, backyard, parks or that special location. However, these locations must be within 100 yards of vehicle access. There may be additional costs if there isn’t close vehicle access. Our available parks are listed at booking for your convenience. Please Keep in mind that all home deliveries must remain where they were delivered. We charge a fee of $1.00 per mile for distances that are 20 miles or more from our preferred areas.
Q: How many people can I invite to my picnic?
A: We can accommodate the number of guests that you book for your picnic and teepee party. Picnics that are more than 50 guests will require a custom order.
Q: What if we complete our picnic earlier than expected?
A: Not a problem, Upon booking we will provide you with our company number. When you have completed your picnic, please text us and wait for your Deco Picnics Stylist to arrive before leaving.
Q: Can I just rent the tables or remove items from my package?
A: We are only offering a full-service picnic setup currently. Keep in mind that if you decide to remove items from the package, the pricing will remain the same.
Q: Do you offer food?
A: We do not offer food at this time, however, we do work with amazing catering partners throughout the area. Champagne, charcuterie grazing boards, or sparkling cider can be added to any package. Please inquire for more info!
Q: Where is Deco Picnics located?
A: We are located in Prince William County, Northern Virginia.

If you inquire/book through one of our recommended vendors (as listed above) please notify them that you are booking a picnic with us, your picnic location, date, and set arrival time. Our recommended vendors usually deliver your food ~10 minutes prior to your set picnic time so everything is set up and ready prior to your arrival.
Q: Can I customize my theme?
A: We have a list of themes for you to choose from at booking. If you prefer a different theme we will be glad to accommodate you at an extra fee. Picnics for 30 guests or more will require a customized quote.
Q: How do I book?
Once you have decided on a picnic-style, simply complete the booking form with your preferred event date, time, location and the number of guests, pay your deposit, and we will confirm your picnic and secure your event. The balance of payment is due 7 days before your picnic...
Q: Are there specific locations for your picnic setups?
A: We typically set up our picnics anywhere within 15 miles of the Prince William County area. We do host picnics throughout Northern Virginia, Maryland, and DC, however, if your picnic location is outside of our base area of our Prince William County (Dumfries/Woodbridge area) then there is an additional charge for locations 15 miles outside of our base area. We charge $1/mile., whether it be a private location (e.g. your house or backyard) or a public location (e.g. a park or a beach).
Q: How far in advance do I need to book?
A: We typically require a minimum of one week notice for a booking, however, please note that our calendar starts to fill up months in advance so early booking is recommended. Depending on availability, we may be able to accommodate last-minute bookings.
Q: Do I need to pay a deposit?
A: Yes, we require a $250 deposit for all picnics and teepee parties.
Q: Can we use your picnic setups for more than the set time slot?
A: Yes, we are happy to allow you to use the setting for a longer period if there is availability, this must be arranged with us in advance. Please note that a fee may be applicable depending on the amount of additional time required. Our picnics are 90 minutes and can be extended depending on availability. A fee of $50 per hour will be charged to the Customer for hours beyond the 90 minutes. Inquire before adding extra hours to your picnic. For the safety of our staff, the latest pickup time in public spaces such as parks can be no later than 7 pm due to restricted lighting.
Q: Are there any delivery/collection fees?
A: While delivery and collection of items is included in the booking price as part of the setup and pack down, we do require a delivery and collection fee for events that take place more than 15 miles outside of DC, MD, VA. Please email us for more information.
Q: Can I just hire individual items or remove certain items from a picnic package?
A: We are currently only offering full package rentals or picnic styling options as part of a set picnic package. This also means that if there are certain items you ask us to change or remove from a package, the price will stay the same.
Q: Can I book additional tents?
We've organized Teepee Parties for 5 through to 50 people. If you've got the space, we've got you covered. Each Deco Teepee requires around 7ft depth and 3ft width, and are 5ft high. We can arrange in various configurations (line-up, semi-circle, aisles) depending on your space. If you're unsure, just ask.
What if I need to cancel or postpone?
If you need to cancel or change dates you must notify us at least 72 hours prior to your event. A change of dates is based on availability. We are flexible with rescheduling, but please note – we do not issue refunds once your deposit has been paid. Please communicate any changes in your schedule as soon as possible so we can find a new date for your picnic and reopen the availability for your original picnic date. We will not be able to reschedule picnics within 48 hours of your scheduled date and time unless it is weather-related. Please remember that it can get hot and/or humid in Northern Virginia during May - October months! Be conscious of this when booking/deciding to reschedule and always have an indoor backup date. Unfortunately, heat and/or humidity will not be a justifiable reason to reschedule within 48 hours.
Q: Do you do gift vouchers?
A: We certainly do! Gift vouchers can be purchased for any dollar value over $250 USD. Purchasers will receive a physical gift voucher in the mail to gift to the recipient. Send us an email to order your gift voucher!
What COVID-19 Precautions is Deco Picnics taking?
Deco Picnics takes the safety of our clients very seriously. We will be following CDC protocols and sanitizing items before and after your picnic. Hand Sanitizer will be provided for all picnics. All Deco Picnics Stylists and Team members will be wearing masks during set up and clean up.
